Paris, 26 January 2010 – BonitaSoft, the leading provider of open source Business Process Management (BPM) solutions, today released a completely redesigned version of open source software for BPM: Bonita Open Solution 5.0.
“We have been able to totally revamp the existing Bonita software technically, thanks to the funding we raised in 2009. We’re pleased to be able to offer Bonita Open Solution 5.0 to the Open Source Community today,” said Miguel Valdes Faura, CEO and co-founder of BonitaSoft. “For this new version, we concentrated on making the solution easy to use and included the capability to connect it to external Information Systems in just a few clicks, while still keeping all the powerful functionality our users want.”
With this release, BonitaSoft aims to make BPM affordable for all businesses, large and small. This Open Source solution is simple and powerful and can be easily integrated into existing information systems (IS), whatever the level of complexity or criticality of the project.
“For an integrator such as Bull, and indeed for all users of Bonita Open Solution, ease of integration and simple maintenance mechanisms are critical. It optimizes development time and the deployment of complex projects. And it contributes to the democratization of BPM – now it’s easy to integrate all those many small business processes which have been left out of Systems Information in the past,” said David Labajo, Spain Bull Services Director.
To achieve the stated goal of “simplicity and power,” the BonitaSoft team has developed Bonita Studio, a brand-new graphical interface that supports BPMN (Business Process Management Notation) standard. It has a wide array of connectors, ready to be linked to many commonly used proprietary IS solutions (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Google) as well as widely used open source IS solutions (Talend, eXo Platform, Alfresco, Jaspersoft, SugarCRM, SpringSource, XWiki).
The new Bonita User Experience portal also supports this dual objective: conceived to be as simple to use as an e-mail inbox, it makes the execution of a process intuitive, and provides an overview of the steps underway for better process management.
This new version also provides the capability to automatically generate a completely independent BPM application that can be exported and installed in a few clicks into the user’s production environment.
The release of Bonita Open Solution Version 5 was preceded in October by a Preview version that has already been downloaded more than 30,000 times. The community of Bonita contributors, many of whom who have tested the application in the Preview version, has been enthusiastic about this new solution as evidenced by the feedback posted to the community site (www.bonitasoft.org).

And it is completely true.
The connectivity capacities in BOS 5.0 are amazing.
The integration tasks can be easily accomplished.
Deploying customized processes into a production environment became a simplest task and not derive into a maintenance nightmare.
I have been using Bonita for a while since 3.x version. I have integrated it into my JEE projects and I am glad enough to see the evolution of this, my favorite BPM project, into a more powerful and serious BPM for Businesses suite.
I sure there is more amazing things to expect for the near future about this awesome software.
The BOS 5.0 release are good news for the It managers, the same for the developers and of curse for the end user.
I am just a happy community member. Come to visit and join us at the community.
Thanks a lot to the Bonita’s people for their great job.
Best regards.
