http://www.bonitasoft.com/company/blog/bpms-opportunity-energy-vertical

There’s been a lot of talk on this blog and elsewhere about BPM’s rise in the enterprise. More and more, organizations across all industries are looking to streamline workflows to increase operational efficiency.

BPM’s surge is part of the larger trend of agile development; organizations are weary of growing top-heavy and employing a number of individuals to perform tedious, manual processes that could easily be handled by a single person if they had greater visibility into the complete processes and tools to automate all or certain portions of it.

Lately, we’ve noticed a particularly strong level of interest from the energy vertical. We recently had a conversation with a prospective customer - a mid-sized energy company based United States - about how BPM could increase agility in their organization. In short, this company has experienced strong growth of late, which has in turn caused them to hire more field employees and contractors to research/survey potential drilling sites. The more field employees this company has, the more revenue they’re able to generate. However, it also causes a corresponding need for more corporate employees to support those in the field.

This is a fairly common problem for energy and land development companies. While you need to ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support operations, it’s of equal importance that you practice agility and not become too “top-heavy.” BPM solutions, including BonitaSoft, can document, implement, maintain, and monitor workflows to better coordinate processes - and even offer an improved reporting template. Transparency is key in these situations; the more insight managers have into a given process, the more freedom they have to structure it in a new, more efficient manner, and not simply be held hostage by the current process structure.

With that in mind, BonitaSoft has developed a user-friendly user interface that’s tailored towards business users, as opposed to something that can only be properly manager by IT staff. This is really the core of our business philosophy: BPM is an extremely powerful tool that can improve and transform processes. We’re committed to democratizing the practice by offering (and continuing to innovate around) a solution that can be used by business and technical users alike.

Category:

Customers

Fri, 17 Feb 2012 16:56:05 +0000 jeremy.lipp 1896 at http://www.bonitasoft.com http://www.bonitasoft.com/company/blog/bpms-opportunity-energy-vertical#comments Bonitasoft Discusses BPM and HR in CRM Buyer http://www.bonitasoft.com/company/blog/bonitasoft-discusses-bpm-and-hr-crm-buyer

In a February 9 article titled, "BPM + HR = A Lean, Mean On-Boarding Machine," Bonitasoft CEO Miguel Valdés Faura discusses how BPM solutions can help HR managers with on-boarding and recruitment processes. It was an extremely interesting few days; many of the leading voices in the BPM community shared their thoughts on how the practice is - and must continue - adapting to today’s IT realities, particularly cloud computing and big data. Below are some personal highlights that I took away from the conference - though this is by no means an exhaustive recap of the entire event:

Keynote address (Monday) - Connie Moore, one of Forrester’s lead BPM analysts, gave the keynote, entitled “Big Process Thinking.” Her talk focused on the importance of keeping the big picture in mind when it comes to BPM; no matter how big a given process may be, it’s small when you consider the operations of an entire organization -- it’s just a piece in a much larger puzzle. With that in mind, she advised evaluating the following criteria when assessing readiness for a BPM deployment:

Waste elimination

Cost reduction

Improving customer experience

Value innovation potential

The rise of process-as-a-service - Cloud computing has undeniably asserted itself across all of enterprise IT and BPM is no exception. While cloud BPM is still in its early stages, Forrester predicts that the as-a-service model will soon become a reality in BPM via cloud-based processes that bussinesses can remotely access.

Big data’s influence on BPM - Another recurring theme this week has been the need for BPM to embrace big data. Organizations are learning to store, sort and process their massive volumes of data for greater operational intelligence. BPM stands to benefit greatly from analytics tools that provide deeper insight for discovering and optimizing processes. It can also help data scientists more efficiently build processes of their own to analyze data.

2012: the year of social BPM? - Social is perhaps the single biggest buzzword in BPM circles these days. In the past, however, it’s been difficult to distill the hype around “social” and see what value it actually brings to BPM. As the social enterprise evolves, however, it’s increasingly clear that BPM solutions should - and will - incorporate social features into their offerings to allow for greater collaboration through the development and deployment of a given process.

Consequences of process inefficiencies - BPM is increasingly being recognized as a mission-critical, as opposed to complementary, IT tool. For one, it can be a vital in helping organizations maintain compliance. One case that was cited was the FDA being fined $16M for not being compliant.

I also uploaded several videos from the conference, which can be found at BonitaSoft’s YouTube channel.

Category:

Events

Thu, 19 Jan 2012 23:19:30 +0000 haidar.hadi@bonitasoft.com 1880 at http://www.bonitasoft.com http://www.bonitasoft.com/company/blog/process-excellence-week-pex-2012-retrospective-account#comments Business Process Application Development (in Italian) http://www.bonitasoft.com/services/training/business-process-application-development-italian-0

March 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, 2012 - 9:00 am to 12:30 pm CET

Duration: 17,5 hours

Suitable for: Java developers

The purpose of this 5 half days training is to enable you to develop a process in Bonita Open Solution, connect it to external information systems, and deploy a business process application to execute it.

This training is designed for you if you are looking at:

developing complete end-to-end processes

connecting models to external information systems

automating processes

being involved in the details of design and execution

When the training is completed, you will:

Be comfortable using Bonita Open Solution to model processes

Be familiar with BPMN notation and best practices

Be able to draw and interpret process diagrams modeled in Bonita Open Solution

Be able to develop and deploy process(es) for end user(s)

with connections to external systems

with customized forms

with customized Web applications

Price: €1,800 / participant with certification exam

Date:

Monday, March 5, 2012 - 09:00 to Friday, March 9, 2012 - 12:30

Number of places:

100

Location:

Remote

Thu, 19 Jan 2012 16:43:14 +0000 adrien.bayles@bonitasoft.com 1879 at http://www.bonitasoft.com http://www.bonitasoft.com/services/training/business-process-application-development-italian-0#comments Breakfast Seminar - Technical Education Session on Business Process Management (San Francisco, USA) http://www.bonitasoft.com/resources/event/breakfast-seminar-technical-education-session-business-process-management-san

// if (document.location != "http://www.bonitasoft.com/resources/events") { document.getElementsByTagName("h1")[0].innerHTML = 'Breakfast Seminar - Discover Bonita Open Solution';
