About Hyster-Yale's Bonita implementation

Hyster-Yale had previously implemented a BPM platform but found that it was not adapted to their real needs. The infrastructure footprint was quite large and complex to manage. Annual support costs were increasing and they needed a simpler and affordable BPM platform to continue automating their processes.

With Bonita they found a solution that is simpler and easier to manage. The first big process that they converted over from the other platform was the Change Order Release process, the biggest process in the engineering group - almost all engineers and managers are involved in releasing engineering changes to the rest of the company.

Hyster-Yale needed:

  • to handle sequential as well as parallel review and approval tasks
  • escalations if assigned employees didn’t act on their task in their inbox a way to remind the responsible person of a waiting task
  • the capability to do out-of-office delegations so that when someone is gone tasks can be approved by people to whom it has been delegated
  • to efficiently process roughly 600-700 engineering changes in a month

Outcomes

The low-code environment to implement this process allowed the Hyter-Yale to move into production on an expedited basis. The Change Order Release process was released in four months from start to finish.

Following the successful deployment of this process, Hyster-Yale started working on the Excess and Obsolete Inventory process, to better manage the inventory from the plant.

Benefits

On the previous BPM platform, there were many failed tasks every day. The system administrator had to manually monitor and restart them to keep them going. With the implementation of Bonita, those problems went away overnight.

I think it was a perfect technology decision as well as a business decision to select Bonitasoft as a platform, to use from a business point of view, for a low-volume type of transaction it provides a cost-effective solution. From a technology point of view, it allowed them to simplify their infrastructure footprint to implement, or reimplement, an existing solution that worked better than the previous implementation.” – Adam Korzeniowski, VP of Sales, Evoke Technologies
